Club History
The South Cairns AFL was formed on 24th May 1956 at the Balaclava school and were called the Swans .
South Cairns were the first C.A.F.L. Club and won the first C.A.F.L. Premiership.
In 1959 , the Balaclava F.C. was formed and were called the Eagles.
Due to financial and player numbers in 1963 , South’s and Balaclava amalgamated to become the South Balaclava A.F.C. and were called the Swans .
The clubs home was at Australian Football Park (Cazaly's) and enjoyed great success , winning four consecutive premierships from 1963-1966; a feat which has not been equaled.
The club moved to the Cairns Cricketers Club ( Sportsworld ) in 1987 and became incorporated in 1991 .
In 1992 , a permanent home was secured at Fretwell Park , Edmonton .
Because of the clubs new geographical home , the members voted to a change of name to the South Cairns Australian Football and Sporting Club . A strong Junior base was developed
In 1995 , the clubs need to associate itself with a new area decided on a change of colours and became the “South Cairns Cutters “
In 2008 , as the club continued to evolve , the members again voted , this time to incorporate the Juniors , so they were able take control of their own destiny .
Long Live "THE CUTTERS"
